Maldives does not have any specific IP Law or Office. Therefore, the mark protection is done through the publication of Cautionary Notice. This publication is a notice to the public that this mark is the exclusive property of its owner. This publication also provides an obligation to any previous users of the mark to immediately contact if they are the first users of the mark. If no one contacts, then the Publication can also be considered as an approval of the ownership of the mark.
The Cautionary Notice must be published in English and Dhivehi (regional language) and must be republished every 3 years.
